Finnie and Minnie’s Winter ONEderland

This day came much quicker than I ever imagined it would. When Finley was a newborn I had other moms tell me “she’ll be one before you know it” and there I was holding my 6lb baby girl thinking “yeah but that’s a whole year away.” And then I blinked.

I knew early on that I wanted to do a winter ‘one’derland party because we had a lot of decorations left over from my ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside” baby shower that I never got to have because I was in the hospital having my baby 3 weeks early. So we had tons of white decorations from the shower and I used a bunch of my Christmas decorations that I already had. My mom and I made most of the sweet treats. Huge shout out to Matt’s sister for making and decorating the sugar cookies! They were awesome! And ya’ll The Cakeapotamus  has got it going on when it comes to cake. I was sooo happy with how the cake turned out. It was DELICOUS!!! She made the smash cake too.

This snowflake is a Christmas card holder that I got from Pier1. I loved having all of my pictures on it:)

Anyone that knows me knows that I am obsessed with smells (good ones that is:) And I wanted my winter wonderland to smell wintery so I held on to a bunch of the needles and clippings from our Christmas tree and mixed them with a little bit of wax. Ahhhhh! So good.

How cute are these reindeer? Got them at Pier1 the day after Christmas two years ago. They fit perfectly with the theme and Finley loved them!

This Minnie Mouse balloon was the BEST $20 that I spent on the party. The kids loved it and it was still floating around my house until just a few days ago AND it’s reusable. I’m pretty sure she is going to make an appearance at every birthday:)

And when she was finished smashing, she gave Minnie a high-five for a job well done:)

I know that it looks like I took a ton of photos of her smashing her cake but I really didn’t. I wanted to be in the moment and not consumed with getting the perfect shot so I hired K&R Photography to do her official one year cake smash session. It was worth every penny because I got to sit back and enjoy watching Finley smash the cake that, this time, my mom made for her. So sweet and so special. Here are a few of my faves from our session with K&R.

The party was a blast and we had so much fun celebrating our girl. Special thanks to Matt for not rolling his eyes at ever how over-the-top this party may have been. Hey, you only turn O.N.E. once!
